Saran Donahoo is a Professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Higher Education, Director of the College Student Personnel Program, and Chair of the Department of Educational Administration and Higher Education at Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. She earned both her doctorate in higher education administration and her M. A. in history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed her B. A. in secondary education at the University of Arizona. Her research interests include legal issues affecting education, educational policy, international/comparative education, and educational diversity and equity in both K-12 and postsecondary settings. She has also served as Associate Editor for Media Reviews for the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice. Her published works include co-editing Teaching Leaders to Lead Teachers: Educational Administration in the Era of Constant Crisis and articles in Teachers College Record, Equity & Excellence in Education, Christian Higher Education, Urban Education, and Education and Urban Society as well as an array of book chapters. Her recent research examines connections between hair, identity, careers, and postsecondary education. Her professional activities focus on helping students navigate campus life, complete their degrees, and transition into their careers.
