Seung-Hee Lee is a Professor in Fashion Design & Merchandising in School of Architecture at SIUC.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from Ewha Womans University (Seoul, Korea), and her Master and Ph.D. degree from The Ohio State University. As an internationally-recognized scholar in fashion merchandising, Dr. Lee has been extremely prolific--over 190 referred research presentations at national and international conferences, more than 130 articles in prestigious academic journals, 4 book translations (from English to Korean), and 1 Korean book (Socio-Psychology of Clothing). Her research interests include fashion theory development, cross-cultural study, brand marketing, fashion sustainability, and fashion technology. Dr. Lee has obtained over 1 million in research grant funding from government agencies, research foundations, corporations, and universities. She has received numerous ‘Best paper awards’ at national/international conferences, and recognitions such as Outstanding Scientist Women’s Scholar award by The KME & HRD (one division of Korean government), two University-level “Distinguished Researcher of the Year” awards, and three college-level “Scholar of the Year” awards (2016, 2017, 2018 at CASA). She has engaged interdisciplinary collaboration on the convergence of Fashion Merchandising and other disciplines for many years, co-working with scholars from a broad range of disciplines. Due to Dr. Lee’s contributions to scholarship, she was invited to co-teach “Brand Marketing” at University of Vienna (Austria) and to give research presentations at international conferences as well as fashion corporations (e.g., Samsung). She has served on the editorial board for 10+ journals (including Editor and Associate Editor) as a reviewer for 30+ International journals.
